Reheat food: Is it bad for health?
When and how to reheat food? A question that inevitably leads to another; can we reheat all foods? It is true that we need to avoid wasting food, but no less important is to watch how to store and reheat leftovers for later consumption will not turn out to be dangerous for the health.
The first thing is to control the times, being fundamental to keep it in the icebox or to freeze the food in the maximum of two hours that have been cooked. After this time, even less when the temperature is very high, the risk of proliferation of bacteria increases and with it the risk that we feel bad when consumed.
In addition to respect the time that food is at room temperature should be very cautious with its handling. Among the basic rules, whenever we go to touching or handling food should wash our hands and clean utensils and surfaces that can come into contact. Also, foods that we are going to reserve it are necessary to remove them from the container or pot in which we cooked and put in a new clean and properly covered container.
When the times keep leftovers? No more than two days is the recommendation of experts in nutrition for that food to stay fit for consumption and do not constitute a health hazard (food poisoning). If we not take the leftovers at the next meal, it is best to opt for freezing, give the date on the container so that we do not forget.
Temperature to reheat food
When reheating food we must be careful with the temperatures. In the case of soups or sauces it is convenient to let it warm up to boil. The leftovers should be heated quickly to a uniform temperature and reaching 70° C in the center of the food. It is important not reheat food twice and, above all, avoid mixing leftovers that come from different foods.
