How to deflate thrombosed hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are a very common problem; in fact, about 50% of the population has suffered at some point in their lives. They are caused by various reasons, such as poor nutrition or constipation, in fact and there is the dilation of the veins of the anus, something that can end up causing their breakage or the generation of a thrombus.

thrombosed hemorrhoids

There are different types of hemorrhoids, for example, can be external or internal, or as we will explain in this article, the thrombosed. Thrombi are blood clots that prevent blood circulation in the anal veins, something that causes the appearance of different symptoms such as pain. Do you suffer from this type of hemorrhoids?

What are the thrombosed hemorrhoids?

The thrombosed hemorrhoids are a complication of simple or common hemorrhoids. This complication occurs when a hemorrhoid exits the anus and is not reintroduced on its own. When left outside, and as a result of the strangulation caused by the sphincter, blood accumulates inside it that cannot escape. When the blood accumulates a thrombus or blood clot forms which causes the following symptoms:

  • Acute pain
  • The hemorrhoid hardens
  • There is a bulge in the anus that turns blackish
  • Occasionally, it may ulcerate and bleed
  • Pain when defecating, walking, sitting and touching.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids are very easy to diagnose by a doctor, a simple coarse visual infection. You should know that thrombus hemorrhoids usually disappear on their own within a few days, however, we can accelerate that process with a series of remedies or, if not eliminated, follow a series of medical treatments.

How long it takes for a thrombosed hemorrhoid to disappear

You should know that in most of the time the thrombosed hemorrhoids are reabsorbed by themselves and disappear as they have arrived. However, there are many factors that affect its duration and that can accelerate that process. Some of the factors that influence the duration of thrombosed hemorrhoids are:

  • Size
  • Vascularization
  • Age
  • The habits of life.

Generally, the thrombus hemorrhoid is absorbed in a few weeks, although the pain is reduced after a few days and usually improves a lot over the week. Finally, in general, thrombosed hemorrhoids deflate and disappear after 2 weeks or a month.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids: Treatment

Over the years, the medical treatments used to treat thrombosed hemorrhoids have varied. Today, there are 2 types of treatment that are the most performed in medical centers to reduce inflammation of inflamed hemorrhoids, and then we explain them to you:

Incision: It is the most used at present, although it can only be done when we are in the first 72 hours since the hemorrhoid has been thrombosed. In these cases the doctor makes an incision in the vein and manually removes the thrombus that obstructs it. In this way, we can reduce the size of the hemorrhoid, as well as the pain it causes. Also, since it is reduced, it will be easier to reduce it within the year and disappear.

Manually: Another way to treat hemorrhoids is for the doctor to reduce hemorrhoids manually. For this, analgesics must be applied so that the pain becomes more bearable. When the treatment ends, the hemorrhoid returns to the anal canal, causing hemorrhoids to be relieved most of the time. This happens because the pressure in the blood vessel is eliminated and the circulation in those veins returns.

You should know that these treatments are not going to eradicate hemorrhoids, they simply relieve thrombosis and solve this complication, however, if what we want is to end hemorrhoids completely, the only solution is to practice a hemorrhoidectomy. In turn, there are other non-invasive treatments that, depending on the case, can serve as a treatment for hemorrhoids. These treatments are the ointments and creams designed for these ailments. You should consult a doctor if these creams are indicated for this case.

How to deflate thrombosed hemorrhoids

As we have already explained, thrombosed hemorrhoids can be quite painful. When they are large or painful, it is best to go to the doctor to design an appropriate treatment, however, in its early stages or if they are still small we can use the following home remedies so that the thrombosed hemorrhoids are reabsorbed and disappear on their own alone:

Water baths

The contrasts of temperatures can be a great natural remedy to reduce inflammation of thrombosed hemorrhoids. You must fill two buckets or bowls, one with cold water and the other with hot water and sit on them for about 20 minutes. First you have to start with the hot water and then continue with the cold. The effect of temperature changes in hemorrhoids will be an improvement in blood circulation, facilitating the elimination of clots.

Aloe vera

The aloe vera is one of the most versatile home remedies offered by nature, since it serves for countless conditions. One of the medicinal uses of the aloe vera plant is the reduction of hemorrhoids. For this, we can use the creams that sell in pharmacies, or remove the same from the aloe leaf. Subsequently, you should apply this paste on the hemorrhoids, preferably if you have left it in the fridge before and it is cold.

Ice

As we have seen before with water baths, ice (cold) is an excellent remedy for inflammation of thrombosed hemorrhoids. However, we must bear in mind that the direct contact of ice on the skin may end up burning it. That is why, when we apply the ice in the anal region, we should always do it by putting a cloth or a rag in between. In the same way, it is possible that after a while it hurts, when that happens we must move it away. To avoid this, a good option is to keep it for 20 seconds and rest 10 and repeat the process for 15 minutes.

Chamomile

The Chamomile is another great home remedy that can be used to remove thrombus hemorrhoids. For its use we must take chamomile in bags, like those sold in any supermarket, and after putting them with hot water leave them in the anus next to the hemorrhoid.

Facilitate the defecation

We have already explained that one of the main causes of the appearance of hemorrhoids is constipation. In turn, hemorrhoids can cause constipation to the causes of the pain that they cause when defecating. That is why among the remedies to relieve hemorrhoids must be taken into account food to prevent constipation.
